Eight months later the completed movie was feted with the Audience Award as the Most Popular Film at the 1994 Cannes Film Festival and at the San Francisco and Seattle festivals. Audiences screamed her praises when "Priscilla" opened across Australia in September 1994. And at the next year's Academy Award presentations Lizzy Gardiner and Tim Chappel won the Oscar for Best Costume Design. Now get ready, once again, to go bush with Bernadette (Terence Stamp), Mitzi (Hugo Weaving) and Felicia (Guy Pearce) aboard the lavender bus called 'Priscilla' as they head for Alice Springs with a drag show, with hits by Abba, Charlene, Alicia Bridges, Gloria Gaynor and the Village People.
