Marcel Marx, an old bohemian living in the French harbor city of Le Harve, stands up for a young African refugee when officials begin to pursue the boy for deportation.
In the Portside city of Le Havre, Marcel leads a simple life, spending his days shining the shoes of the ,middle class, before retiring to his beloved wife Arletty. But after she falls ill, Marcel feels lost.... Until a chance encounter with an illegal immigrant boy, Idrissa, changes his life forever.
